My cat has been really vocal lately and wasnting lots of attention, to the point of it being a little annoying.
It.s only just clicked tonight that she is looking rather fat around teh middle.

I think she is pregnant

She hasn't been done as she doesn't really go out. she never leaves the garden and even when seh does go outside she comes back in within a few minutes.

I don't know how far along she is or anything.
i feel like such an irresponsible owner.

the only good thing is that she is pure white and very pretty so hopefully the kittens will look like her and be easily re homed.

off to google for everything and anything about feline pregnancy.

Take her to the vets and check . My cat often puts on weight - she's a right scavenger (we think she's been done, the vet isn't 100% sure as there is no scar but she doesn't seem to have a womb). She may have been sampling food all round the neighbourhood - you never know.

she might not be pregnant she might be in season. How old is she? Then they are in season, they go mad!! Very vocal, continuely in your face and drives you to distract. Don;t let her out

Dont panic, the same thing happened to our house cat, and we now have 5 beautiful new arrivals! I second going to the vet to check, but she will continue to get fatter and lazier if she is pregnant, its a good idea to feed her kitten food if she is pregnant and whilst she is feeding kittens, they are pregnant for around 9 weeks, and the kittens need to stay with mum for 8weeks, there is loads of conflicting advise on the internet, my vet said ours would be fine on her own. its quite likely that a tom came into your garden, looking for love!

Same thing happened to me with a young stray I took in, she had 4 kittens and we kept two, rehomed two. She gave birth on my bed, it smells

Will take her to the vets tomorrow. Don't suppose pet insurance covers pregnancy.

Whilst i love the idea of a couple of kittens running around i hate the thought of them having to go to a shelter if we can't find them homes.

She is about a year old so i still think of her as a kitten herself.
i hope she is just a bit fat and maybe on heat. certainly wont be letting her out until we are sure.

any news?

CountryGirl2007 · 21/04/2008 11:31

any news? if she is pregnant the vet can spay her anyway. there are enough cats looking for homes without more being born.
