Hole in my cats paw?

Our cat came in limping last night and today he’s just wanting to sleep and showing no interest in eating. I’ve checked his paw and it was bleeding so I cleaned it up and noticed this hole? Our vets is closed at weekends and I don’t drive to go to another one but obviously if he gets any worse I will have to do something.

Can someone give you a lift to the other one? If he needs antibiotics I wouldn’t delay, and that is a pretty big hole. If he isn’t himself then he’s already suffering and needs to be seen.

I didn’t know vets shut at the weekends tbh, the 4 near me are all 7 days, although limited times at weekends. Have you phoned to check in case online info is out of date?

He will be needing pain medication and an antibiotic. And he’s already suffering which is why he’s not eating. If you ring your vet they might have a recording offering an out of hours number to call?

Prepare some warm water with table salt dissolved in it. Soak the cats foot in it if you can. Saline will clean out any impurities and help it to heal nicely in the meantime. Salt water is one of the best things out there.

Oh gosh that’s big isn’t it! Does it come out the other side? The not eating would worry me.

That makes me think either bite or grass seed, either of which need treatment

Vet practices have 'out of hours' cover and usually these details are on the answerphone message.

I would not leave one of my cats who had a visible hole like that and a loss of appetite and wanting to sleep all of the time.

Thanks everyone I got him to another vet and he has been given antibiotics and pain relief. They think we was in a fight and his paw got infected
