This is going to sound so weird, but does anyone walk their cat on a lead?

DS is desperate to take our kitten out, but she's a house cat so the only way is to put her on a lead - he wants to walk her down the road!

Would this be really odd, or will a 5yr old be able to get away with it?!

My MIL has one for her cat, not sure if the cat likes it though

I did when our cat was young. He was a rescue cat and when we took him on we had to agree not to let him out until he was neutered so we got him a little harness so he could explore the garden a bit. He didn't mind wearing it but he didn't walk like a dog, it was very much a case of going where he wanted! (apart from over the fence obv as that was the whole point of him wearing it). I'd say whether a 5yo could manage would depend on the temperament of the cat.

I have walked my rabbit, but never a cat!

Wouldn't they be too skittish?

Had one for our cat but he wasn't keen, don't think it would be a particularly odd sight though. My Grandad (who now looks after the cat) has trained him to walk with him at all times. The midnight strolls when said cat is waiting for Grandad to come back from the club, are of particular amusement to his neighbours (the night owls anyway)

Pixel she is a very calm cat - we've had her since she was 8weeks and her and DS have a lovely relationship; she licks him all over etc and only takes her claws to him when he deserves it (!)

I think I'm going to get one - can always e-bay it if it doesn't work!
