Moving next door with my cat

Long story, but we have had a nightmare with our house move… we moved out at the end of May and temporarily moved in with my mum. The new house we’re buying is actually next door to my mums (a story for another thread 😂), with us came the dog and the cat. We kept the cat in the house for about 3 weeks but he’s very much an outdoor cat and was literally climbing the walls and actually managed to get out one day, after that we let him out properly which he’s loved and had no issue coming home at night etc.

We’re hopefully getting the keys to our new property on Friday… how are we going to teach him to come back to the new house, rather than the one we’ve been in for the last 2 months when it is literally next door?!

Try posting in the Litter Tray area of Mumsnet, lots of cat experts there!

Surely he'll come to the house where he is fed. Although at first you might have to rescue him from the old house and show him his new feeding station a few times.

If it belongs to your mum is that such a big deal? He'll probably just think he has one enormous property.

Depends whether your mum has superior treats....
