Non charity based cat rehoming

Does anyone have recent experience of getting a cat, be that a kitten or older, from somewhere other than through a rehoming charity?
The last time I got a cat it was though a charity and I'm just wondering how different it is doing it "privately"?

Not sure why you you want to do this? Unless you have a friend who needs to have a cat rehomed, the cat charities are full and in desperate need.

Why? Because I have the free will to consider available options, just as you have the free will to challenge the premise of the question rather than answering it.

I got a couple of older kittens from Gumtree once. I know people are not keen. Essentially they were feral farm cats and an old lady had adopted them unofficially. Sadly she had various health issues/ dementia and Couldn’t really look after them so her son put them on gumtree.

It was fine, the kittens were free but we paid at local vet to have spayed, vaccinated, wormed etc. It was probably slightly more expensive than last adoption donation but they had tugged the heart strings.

I did through gumtree years and years ago ! They were great cats and I kept in touch with the old owner as well a she had become too ill to have taken

All ours have been farm kittens besides one which was a free re-home via Gumtree.

Never had any issues and they've all been happy and healthy.
