Really need advice please 🙏 we have an active dog - she was a rescue. She can be a handful, jumping up, chewing, she’s quite lovely. Only small to medium. Anyway, I love animals, so I got 2 kittens. They stay upstairs all the time, I have put a stair gate on the stairs as didn’t want the dog trampoling them when they were tiny. She is constantly after them! If they venture downstairs which they hardly do, the dog is sooo fascinated by them and will chase them around. I did get training for her but it’s time to do it if I’m cooking or seeing to the kids and the cats decide to come down I can’t always be consistent. The trainer suggested putting her on a lead and jerking it while saying ‘away’ and then when she responds giving her a treat. But I’m missing them when they come down so don’t get chance to find the lead.
At night they have the run of the house as the dog is in the bedroom with us.
Any ideas how I can let the cats roam without the dog being in their face?! Do I remove the stair gate and let them get on with it?! They get really peed off with the dog and usually run away but their sharp claws and teeth don’t seem to be a deterrent. I want them downstairs and on my lap and in the garden but there is no chance at the moment poor things x any help appreciated x
