Will one cat be happy at home when I begin work or should I get another and settle them together before I begin?

Just pondering - does a cat on it's own have a purrfectly (sorry!) happy life as a solitary, indoor cat?

Should I get another one soon (my cat is only 7m old so not too set in her single-life ways I don't think!) for company when I begin uni/work?

I think they prefer company. An older cat (say of a year?) I think would be a good match - they can play together but wouldn't wreck your house

I had a single cat for 19 years she was pretty happy actually...lots of love and her own special cushion...but I suppose it depends...

If you get another cat then get one of the opposite sex as apparantly they are mroe likely to accept each other when introduced late on like this.

I didn't realise and got a 2nd female and they still hate each other after 3 years. The first one was older than yours though (4). So maybe I left it too late.
