15 year old dog dental problems help

So I'm very worried at the moment

My Pomchi 15 years old has an abscess where his canines are. I have antibiotics for him and pain relief. But the vet is also saying I need to get the tooth/teeth out that's affected. I'm worried my dog won't do well being put to sleep with anaesthetic.. I just want some reassurance

It's very confusing because the same place I went. I went two years ago for some blood tests and X-rays to see if I can move forward with anaesthetic & they found stuff within the blood which can be linked to liver problems, kidney problems etc

But today when I went... he said there is less 1% chance he won't wake up but how is that possibly if there is possible liver problems I ain't aware of

Opinions please

You need to speak to your vet again because they are the only ones that can reassure you, not randoms on Mumsnet. Did you ask why the results you got two years ago would have changed?

If for some reason you don’t trust your vet’s advice you can ask for a second opinion before making your decision.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
