Looking at a book on amazon but there are no reviews, Cat clicker traing by Karen Pryor

Anyone any experience or am I alone in thinking training a cat is possible?

I trained my lovely docile old Tom to sit. Not using clicker training though, I just kept pressing his bottom down then rewarding him, and eventually (and this took longer than you would think possible) he learned to sit for his treat.

Sadly, 2 days after he learned this, he died.

I tried this because someone who managed to do it with her cat sent me a clicker and two training cards. I didn't try very hard as:

old cat just stared back at me
middle cat tries to pretend I don't exist anyway and generaly hates humans
youngest cat was scared of the clicky noise

I would think it would be possible if you are prepared to put a lot of effort into it and you had a friendly sociable cat.

you see...that is what could go wrong...thanks for telling me...maybe give clicker to breeder and ask her to click it unexpectedly behind kitten to get him used to it!
