Sick, elderly cat: any vets out there?

Hello,

I'm seeking some advice for my mum's 16 y/o cat.

In the last two weeks she has shown a rapid decline in health:

  • minimal eating/drinking
  • very dark wee; minimal but normal looking poos
  • will often now sit staring blankly for long periods
  • Raid weight loss (has become bony)
  • watery eyes
  • bald patches on back of neck
  • no purring or meowing (unusual)
  • limping for last six months

We have a vet appointment tomorrow - what can we expect? Is it likely she'll be put down?

Any further advice helpful be helpful.

Thank you

It sounds like she's near the end, our girl was like this.the lack of purring or meowing and staring into space sounds very familiar.
I'd prepare yourself, I have two elderly cats here and I'll be utterly heartbroken when they go, but letting them go is the kindest thing we can do sometimes 😥

Why hasn’t she seen a vet yet ? I am shocked you would leave an animal like this for two weeks !
