18 mo large dog - hormones?

My 18 month old large breed dog seems to be going through a huge regression. She had a second heat 3 months ago and I believe she had a phantom pregnancy (vet agreed). She was very relaxed for about a month (out of character) but the past 2 weeks her energy is overwhelming and worse than before. She has always been high energy but it's like nothing I do works, she is bouncing off of the walls even with 2/3 walks a day, playing at dog park, games/play at home. I'm just wondering if this is normal and hormonal behaviour? She's also started misbehaving, running away at times she never would have and actively ignoring me. We have put a lot of effort and time into training her and we were getting there but seems to have all gone back to puppy levels the past few weeks. Having to go back to enforced naps and keeping her on lead, thought we were past all this 😅

Our Rottweiler was the same! He was such a well trained pup, then it's like he became a teenager and decided to ignore everything he'd learned! His recall was fantastic, now we can't let him off his lead anymore. Our trainer warned us it would happen when they reached that stage, and they certainly weren't wrong. He's about 2 and a half now and finally calming down a little. Amazing dog, so intelligent and loving, but an absolute nutcase 😂. We also had a baby around the time he was in his 'teenager' stage too which definitely didn't help, as we couldn't keep up with the training as we should have. It does get better, but I do believe it's a thing all large breeds go through though!

@Myfairytalecametrue haha it's funny you say that as would you believe she is half rottweiler? 😆 Thanks for the advice, just got to keep going with training then I think and strip it back to basics! I think that's my problem too is she is just too smart!

@swiftrunner1 haha I should have guessed Rottweiler! Yep you just have to ride out the storm I'm afraid 😂. Our trainer told us to start everything again from the beginning, it's just supposed to be easier second time around. If you're on Facebook there's some great Rottweilers groups that regularly talk about that stage

@Myfairytalecametrue thank you I'll have a look! Thanks for the advice 🙂
