Did you know that there is such a thing as dyed tropical fish?

I bought 2 fish the other day, which are beautifully coloured. one is bright pink and the other is electric blue. I went onto a fish forum as I couldn't identify them , only to be told that they had been dyed! How sick is that? www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=72

From what I have read, fish have to be anesthetised. Will keep an eye on my fish and see what happens.

There was a big thing about this when I was more involved in the fishkeeping industry in the 90s. At that time nearly all ornamental fish retailers seemed to have pledged to not stock dyed fish.

Where did you get them from? - have you thought about going back and asking them why they stock them? Some of the 'pet supermarets' seem to either not care or not know what they are stocking.

Sadly there is a lot of cruelty in the fishkeeping business and many people think fish don't really matter that much

I'm in Spain and to be honest it's not always the most animal friendly country in Europe. I will be going back to the shop but it was a pet supermarket type place.
