Siberian cats

Hi, does anybody have experience of Siberian cats please? I have a very minor cat allergy and I wondered if anybody had been in the same position and they were ok?

I have read that Siberian cats produce lower levels of glycoprotein Fel d 1 and that’s why I’m interested in that particular breed.

I posted recently about Russian blue cats and we’re deciding between the two.

Have people been ok with Siberian cats?

Thanks very much 😀

Yes I have a Siberian and DH (who is allergic to other cats) is fine with him.

Gorgeous breed but quite skittish and not very social. He rarely sits with us.

My husband is moderately allergic and can’t comfortably tolerate your average Mog for long. We have two Siberians who sleep on the bed, sit on us, shed all over the place and generally rule the roost without causing any problems.

Our experience has been opposite to the previous poster - very social, not lap cats because just too big, but gorgeously friendly temperaments and very attached to their humans. Cat 1 always comes to the door to greet us. Cat 2 has a box obsession and is the sweetest natured —and nearly the thickest— cat I have ever known.

I hadn't heard of them, they're gorgeous! I had a Russian blue who was really sweet, one of those cats with dog-like personalities like always greeting me at the door. I wouldn't say he was hypoallergenic though.

Thanks so much for your comments, they’re been really helpful! I’m now hoping to find a kitten but it’s proving to be quite tricky!

@TheForgetfulCat your cats are gorgeous!!
