...have they ever spent more time at someone else's house than yours?

Not more time, no.
My last cat was a very friendly cat. I only found out after he died that he used to walk right into the neighbours open door and make himself at home occasionally.
I have a very nervy rescue cat now and she startles easily so doesn’t go up to people, even my DH & DC.

One of ours was super shy, almost timid with us. But he turned out to be having a second life with the lady from the newsagents, who told me he spent hours there and did like his smoked salmon. I bet he did!

Our old cat made friends with two neighbours so that he always had somewhere safe to go when he was cold, wet or frightened.

then we got a cat flap and he didn’t put so much effort into colonising other humans because then he could just come home when he needed to.

I had several cats throughout life and this has never happened. All my cats seem to become obsessed with me!

Thanks everyone. My previous cat didn't either.
The reason why I am asking is because our neighbours' cat was spending a lot of time with us. He would cry and cry until we'd let him in. We first thought he was a stray or lost.

One of ours sometimes comes in suspiciously warm and smelling of woodsmoke. He’s a greedy wee fella, suspect he goes where the ham is.

Nope, we are a cat net gain house. The neighbours cats often get a bit of lap time on the patio when it's nice, but no food. Our cat hates the visitors, so we are heavily judged.

I checked on a cat locally because he seemed needy and a bit desperate. He lives with one person who socialises after work and has busy weekends and he just gets a bit lonely on his own I think.

From chatting to all the neighbours it seems that he spends days with someone working from home and his evenings with various neighbours. None of which admit to ever feeding him. He is a slender chap so there’s no evidence they are. He zips back home quite promptly if he hears his person’s car. I sort of like that the community is giving him company and keeping an eye out for him.

Working from home person says they’ll let us all know when they go away so we can give him extra attention. 😄

My dad used to live next door. Every time I went in his house my boy cat would be in an armchair. I think he went straight from one house to other!
