Hi all

Teen Dd's hamster. Female, 2 years ish. She's still running around and eating but this does not look good.
No change to bedding type or food, has been cleaned out two days ago.

She's not been near any other hamsters. She's a Russian dwarf

Is it a tumour?

Oh and she doesn't get handled, she's very much a cage hamster, will literally bite your finger through if you tried playing with her, typical Russian dwarf.

I used to have Russian dwarfs too - very grumpy!
Can't say, I'd be checking with the vets though when they reopen - how long has it taken to get this big?

Hamsters are sadly prone to the tumours quite often.
We had a Syrian and he had one on his paw, it disappeared after a few months though...

We had a female gerbil with something very similar. It turned out to be the gerbil equivalent of breast cancer, she got very thin pretty quickly and we took the decision to put her to sleep, it is very difficult to treat these things in such small animals. Definitely see the vet as it could also be something relatively harmless.

Yes it looks like a tumour. Take her to the vets asap

Thanks all

Will see if any are.open today, if not first thing when they reopen.

I had one that had one on the side of his nose soon after I got him.
I had him pts as soon as it looked like it might be uncomfortable. He was an anti social little sod who would not have responded kindly to anything in the way of handling or treatment so an easy decision
