Had to have our beautiful boy PTS yesterday

And I am so sad. The house is just unbearably quiet and I miss him so much.

I miss him and his excited waggy tail when I walked into the room. I miss him following me around and his cuddles. I miss him barking at the cupboard for a treat. I miss him just lying on his rug next to the TV and just being around. I miss him scraping at the door when I wanted to pee!

He really was the best dog you could have asked for.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It really is unimaginably painful.

So sorry for your loss. I was in the same situation in February 2022. I was absolutely devastated. I still miss him every second of every day, but try to remember the good times x

CleverClogg · 26/11/2023 14:27

I am so sorry. It is such a big loss

Why don't you tell us a little bit about your boy and his favourite things and his characteristics.

My old dog was like a bear and was the
Most over affectionate drool hound with a penchant for eating non edible object including barbecue wooden skewers (actually the whole bin including these and corn cobs) and a tube of hand crèam. He was a beautiful boxer.

The hardest thing. I am still tearful 6 months on.

I'm sorry OP, they're not with us long enough Flowers

I am so sorry for your loss. It’s so very painful. 💐

Thank you ❤️❤️

We had 13 years with him and he brought us so much happiness every day.

He loved soft toys and playing with empty toilet roll tubes 😅 went crazy for peanut butter too…

He was just so loving and affectionate and loved sofa cuddles (would steal your spot on the sofa if you got up for a minute though!)

This is one of my favourite photos of him. I miss his little face so much.

He's incredible handsome 😍 We had our beautiful 14 year old German Shepherd pts two weeks ago so I feel your pain. The house feels very empty without her.

My lost our westie 2 weeks ago. She passed away in her bed at only 9 and a half. The pain is real. It helped to create a memorial in the garden with her ashes. We talk about her every single day. Trying so hard to focus on being grateful for the time we had 🩷

I lost my spaniel in September. I still have split seconds of forgetting and being surprised that he's not there or realising that I can get up off the sofa without disturbing him. It's tough.

What a lovely boy, so sorry for your loss.

We had to pts our Labrador in August, he's so missed. They become part of your family. Sending hugs.

Thank you ❤️

It’s just the worst feeling isn’t it. I feel a bit less alone for your replies though so thank you for that.

Its going to take a lot of time getting used to though.

I'm really sorry. I had to get my 12 year old cocker PTS 2 weeks ago. It really is the worst.

Worst of all, I was off work for 2 weeks with lovely plans with him, no signs of illness, very fit etc and he had a (unknown) bladder tumour that burst...he had his dinner, went for a wee and then there was a pool of blood on the floor - it was just leaking out of him. Due to its size, location and the fact it burst there was nothing to do...a few hours later I had to make the decision.

Even if you know it's the right decision, it doesn't feel any better does it? :(

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was beautiful. We lost our gorgeous cocker boy in September and it absolutely destroyed me - they take a huge piece of our hearts with them when they go, and leave such a horrible quietness behind. Thinking of you Flowers

I’m so sorry. That’s unbelievably tough. Sounds like he was a very loved and pampered boy though, just like mine. But you’re right - it was the right decision but it doesn’t really help much knowing that!

Sorry to everyone else too who lost their beautiful companions. They really do fill your hearts and leave a huge hole when they’re gone :(

i had to put my boy to sleep a few days ago too. He was a spaniel also and my house feels empty without him. My boy had dementia and a tumour on his back so couldn’t have lasted longer.
