Flea treatment

My vet has prescribed Bravecto for my cat - and charged £42 for it! The justification given to me was that it lasts for three months. At that price, it ought to. I see you can buy it online for about half what I paid, but you need a prescription. Has anyone here ever asked their vet for a prescription and bought the stuff privately?

Yes. Our vet has even told us to do it. They said to buy the item elsewhere as it's cheaper, and they'll just issue the prescription (for a charge).

Unless there's a medial reason though, most cats won't need a prescription-only flea solution. A non-prescription version that we use is Beaphar FIPROtec COMBO which is around £20 for a 6 months supply.
