Castration

Our family dog had a castration around 20 days ago. He's been resting and we've followed all the rules. We hoped he would be starting to recover fully by now.

Last night his wound opened (he's not been running or jumping at all and has been under 24hr supervision with a cone and surgical suit). His insides were literally hanging out it was so traumatic!!

We had to rush him to an emergency vet where we were charged over £1000 to help him. They suggested that he hadn't been stitched up properly on the inside which has lead to the outer stitching falling apart!

Has anyone had this happen to them and do you know what we can do to take action against the original vet that did this. We are in contact with the vet but they don't seem very sympathetic at all and haven't even asked how is he!

Multiple costs have been incurred not to mention our poor boy being so poorly and scared.

They can't possibly have stitched him up properly. My lab was castrated in August, after 5 days he was allowed supervised removal of his cone, I got a bit carried away with making a cake and he licked the stitches open. Quick trip to vet who told my dog he was daft, no point restitching as wound not open enough, he had a couple of steri straps applied and the cone of shame put back on. He was able to come out of the cone after another 5 days as it was all healed.

It's been horrendous when we say his insides were hanging out it's not an exaggeration. Was so awful

Did he have a retained testicle because a normal castration is round the back and normally a very small incision that is glued rather than stitched, can't imagine everything falling out of a such small incision.
