What pets have you owned?

Just for fun, what pets have you owned? Including during childhood. I have put an asterisk by the ones I still have at present. Also what pets would you like to own?

Mine are

2 dogs (jack Russell)
4 cats
hamsters (Chinese and Syrian)
mouse
aquatic frogs (African clawed* and African dwarf)
tropical fish (guppies* Mollie's, silver shark, neon tetras).
freshwater fish (normal goldfishes, comets, blackmoors, orandas).
rabbits

I'm interested in keeping budgies and a chinchilla. Thinking of getting gerbils for DS as a starter pet

Various goldfish. Started with one I won and it lasted for years, literally.

2 tortoises

3 Guinea Pigs although they were really DD's

2 Cats and currently have a DDog.

Would have had more but DH is an extraordinary grump when it comes to getting pets. I've no idea why though because he's really sweet with them

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto my brother had a tortoise, but gave it away to his friend because it was a grumpy tortoise 🐢😆

Horses and ponies, cats, Guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gold fish, koi carp and many different breeds of dog.

Quite like the idea of a grumpy tortoise. Sounds ike he'd get on with my DH!

I almost forgot our various stick insects.

As a child/teen:
3 rabbits
1 miniature German shepherd who believed she was a cat
2 cats (1 was an evil genius who trained the above GSD to do his bidding)
3 goldfish, one who lived to be 17.
2 terrapins.
As an adult previously:
2 black labs, 1 golden lab
1 rescue GSD
4 house cats, 20 farm cats
3 guinea pigs,
3 pot belly pigs
2 tortoises
2 ponies
Numerous sheep and hens
3 turkeys
2 goats (one who used to knock the back door)
1 donkey.

Currently:

3 house cats (1 mine, 2 Dd1's)

1/2 a cow (it's technically next doors but it has taken up with the ram so we keep them together )

Gerbils, dog, cats. The gerbils not at the same time as the others, obviously!

One beagle and six moggies.

We currently have the beagle and three moggies - two black adult males and a ginger male kitten.

I currently have:
1 golden retriever
2 Syrian hamsters

I would like more but we don’t have the time or space right now. I would love more small pets especially rabbits and Guinea pigs. We will probably get a second dog at some point. Would love a cat as I’ve never had one but our golden retriever tries to chase them so it isn’t a good idea.

Also had aquatic snails. Eventually end up getting eaten by the fish

An assassin snail. I had to google that as I had visions of a garden snail leaping out of wardrobes trying to kill you like Cato in The Pink Panther films. 😂

The furthest back I can remember is when I was 5, I'm 58 now, and I had a huge Alsatian called Max who I absolutely worshipped. He was very gentle and had a lovely personality and sense of humour but was also fiercely loyal to me, as I was to him.

At 7 we had a a one-eyed male cat called Tiger, a Jack Russell female, Marty and 3 goldfish.

Over the years into teenage and adulthood I've had 2 Giant African Land Snails, Beady and Speedy, a Collie-cross female b/w dog, Sheeba, various cats, various rodents, including 150 pet rats from newborn to elderly, budgies and canaries, various cold water fish. At one point I even had a ''pet'' crane fly!

At the moment we've got a female tabby cat who we rescued from the streets in November 2022, Wopsie, and 5 coldwater fish, Nosher, Jaws, Fangs, Wibbly and Wobbly!

If I ever had the chance, and it's probably illegal here in the UK but I'd LOVE a pair of pet raccoons!

Gerbils are lovely pets! Very bouncy and funny! Easy to keep.
