Friends dog passed away

My best friends dog has recently passed away. Obviously she's incredibly down and sad.

I'm thinking of dropping a few bits off with her to cheer her up but I've no idea what sort of thing is a good idea?

I'm really useless around death and never know the right thing to say or do so any suggestions of what might cheer her up?

Thanks

I think your company would be best. Maybe take her out for lunch or for a coffee.

Thats kjnd of you. I don't recall anyone doing anything for me when any of my pets passed away! But agree, just a shoulder to cry on without any platitudes is best. Possible a flowering bush to plant in the dogs memory?

Do not ask “are you going to get another dog!”

shocking to anyone bereaved!

I'm sure that just the fact that you've thought of her enough to call in and give her a hug and some love will be enough. Perhaps take s lovely cake or something that you can enjoy together with a cuppa.

I took some flowers round to my friend when her dog died, and another friend got her a box of chocolates. We just went and sat and had a coffee with her, it was a small gesture from us both and she really seemed like she appreciated it.

Just being there for her is enough I think.
One of my closest friends had to put their dog down recently. He's coping with it really well, but I just let him know that I was there. We bumped into each other a few days ago and ended up going for a spur of the moment walk around our local loch.

My son made his landlady some homemade cookies when she lost her pet. He lives in an annexe and knew the pet quite well himself and was also upset. They had a coffee and cookie together talking about her.

When our lovely dog passed away, our friends bought us some tulips with bulbs so we could enjoy the flowers and then plant the bulbs to remember him every year. It was a lovely thought and now I tend to give living flowers/plants as gifts to friends who have suffered loss.
