after an honest chat wiht dh we are wondering if the kittens are right for us - they still ownt be handled and are very scared of us - despite our best efforts

are wondering that as we intend keeping a cta for dontkeys years, if we shoudl try a different cat - maybe older. The4se ones are so so cute but are lodgers not pets.

waht do you think

I had 3 ferals, two settled in and after a few months were very domesticated.
Third never really settled and is still a thief and a terrorist, but if she is in the mood she loves us to within an inch of our lifes then ignores us the rest of the time.
Got 2 from a rescue home and it was a YEAR before the male sat on us.
I also have one that never purrs or mews.
Stray cat wandered in one day and is so affectionate it's inconvenient.
Give them time...they will never be quite like proper domestic cats who were handles form birth but they are still lovely.

ok things are lookign up today
they still run when you walk towards them( mostly) but if they are asleep of comfy on the sofa they will even let the boys stroke them.

am going to bribe them wiht treats as you said.

have just remembered that my cats became extremely loving when I was pregnant - they used to curl up on my bump

not sure if you'd want to go that far though Cod

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 25/02/2008 18:38

its so early still

i feel for you as i quickley lose patience but soon they will chill and be better - you just forget that pre kids the home was quiet and cat be all and end all and then this stage past in a blur

spoil them - esp when boys out and sit it out - they WILL chill out

Get a puppy instead.

Seriously Cod, she loves em.

She also loves ham- I tear small strips off for her, and little chunks of cheese.

If she's espacially good I let her have a little bit of squirty cream.

I give her fresh chicken a few times a week, and tinned tuna/sardines.

ALL in moderation I might add and I'm not entirely sure if all of the above is suitable for kittens.
