Hamster has huge balls. Is this normal? Pics included

My "female" hamster seems to have turned into a male over night.

Are these balls normal? They are incredibly big and only visible some of the time.

He fell asleep with them hanging out of his house and I couldn't believe the size (see photos)

Definitely male & yes totally normal!!

haha yes it is normal. i think they move away from the body a bit when it's really warm so look even bigger

Yes, normal. I remember dh running downstairs once telling me I needed to take the hamster urgently to the vet as it had some sort of tumour. Was just it’s bollocks,,,,,which thankfully I knew and didn’t embarrass myself at the vets.

@HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas I have just nearly choked laughing at that on the train - got some concerned looks but decided not to explain 😂

I have to admit I saw the post title and had to come here just to look! 😂I cannot offer any advice just that my male gerbil turned out to be female and pregnant, we had her from Pets at Home! Then after she gave birth to them she ate them. I am never having a gerbil again. 😂
