Insurance for my adorable new kitten

Hello everyone! I'm currently in the midst of securing insurance for my absolutely adorable new Persian breed kitten, and I was hoping to tap into the collective wisdom of fellow pet owners here. If any of you have recommendations or insights on reliable insurance providers, estimated insurance costs for an 11-week-old kitten, or any helpful tips to consider when selecting a policy, I would be immensely grateful. Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance!!😊

Your new kitten sounds lovely. My top tip would be to talk to your vet. Ours told us roughly how much to insure fir and which ones they deal with directly.

You do know that there's a MN tax on this advice don't you @MetaphorMandy!

We need photos! Grin

I can't possibly advise you without a photo.

The OP definitely needs to pay the photo tax!

Oh my word what a fluffkin.

bonfirebash · 24/06/2023 13:54

Tesco have always been v good for me

GoodVibesHere · 24/06/2023 16:30

I use Sainburys and pay for full life cover

Madwife123 · 24/06/2023 22:34

Stunning kitten and thankfully not too brachycephalic like most Persians.

I highly recommend Petplan for insurance. They are more expensive but it’s worth it as the pay out claims quickly, usually direct to the vet and they don’t argue every little detail like some of the cheaper insurance companies do.

LadyLolaRuben · 24/06/2023 22:37

PetPlan cover for life. If you don't get cover for life then insurance firms won't pay out for the condition after 12 months of the first claim. So cover for life ensures the condition is never excluded. Important for the likes of cats that can develope life long kidney issues that require medication. Most vets use pet plan cover for life for their own pets

Lesina · 24/06/2023 22:38

Petplan :) every time.

magnolia1997 · 24/06/2023 22:41

Petplan pay our quickly and without any fuss. They don't seem to penalise you for making claims.

MetaphorMandy · 26/06/2023 06:12

thank you all for those lovely comments and helpful advice. Much appreciated. 😊

Petplan definitely. They’ve paid out £20k for treatment for my 2 babies during their 4 year lives with no argument. My vet always recommends petplan too. I’d say get the top level of coverage as it’s worth it.

adorable kitten!

orangeblosssom · 27/06/2023 15:59

So cute.

Petplan are good

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 27/06/2023 16:01

We use Bought by Many for our insurance. They have changed their name now though and I can't remember what to. Brilliant service with them so far. You do have to pay for the treatment yourselves and then claim back though which puts some people off. Although a lot of vets no longer do direct pay anyway.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/07/2023 23:56

Tesco.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/07/2023 23:57

Is that a Persian cross? He's adorable, but definitely not a full Persian.

Lonecatwithkitten · 02/07/2023 20:54

Lifetime insurance with the highest cover you can afford - my own cats have £15K and as a vet I know that in some instances that may not be enough.
