How hypoallergenic are mini schnauzers?

We're thinking about this breed but I'm a tad allergic to some dogs. Anyone allergic but coping with a MS?

We had a schnauzer and he seemed to be very hypoallergenic. Me and DS are allergic to many things and were fine with him. He had to be trimmed every couple of months, his hair grew rather than fell out. Lovely dogs

My family and my inlaws all have mini schnauzers. They're lovely dogs! They don't shed and I have family members who have severe allergies to lots of things and they've never been bothered by the dogs.
All of the dogs have been great with children, they are very friendly particularly with the kids and happily cuddle up with them.
They can be quite vocal, out of 3 mini schnauzers 2 of them love a good whine when they're excited to see you (but settle quickly) and they will bark at things encroaching on their territory e.g. a cat in the garden or someone coming into the garden or house but again they settle quick and quiet down when you ask them to.

Hi - I am allergic to cats and dogs (confirmed by blood test). It took me a few years to pluck up the courage to buy a dog ( pressure from children). We opted for a MS and I’ve not had a single problem (my son is also allergic and he’s fine too). Our dog is now 8 and we have another 3 year old MS. They make a delightful pair. The bitch is very yappy, but we’ve learned to tolerate the noise because we love her ! She is learning to settle more quickly as she ages.

I make sure to the wash bedding frequently and I take them to a groomer regularly. This seems to help

There's no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog unfortunately. You may be best looking for a rescue that you can spend some time with and see if you react to it.

I’m very allergic to retrievers, spaniels, labradors and the list goes on. I have asthma and multiple other allergies. My son is the same. I’ve had to take medication when in contact with dogs for less than an hour and I’ve not let family members bring dogs to our house. I’ve been absolutely fine with our two MS over a period of 8 years. I don’t know about ‘hypoallergenic’ but this breed works for me and my family.

We are an allergic family. Can’t go to other people’s houses because of cats and dogs. But are absolutely fine with our adorable mini schnauzer.

Love mini schnauzers! I have a mild dog allergy and still react to them however
