He is frightened of other dogs.

He is a wuss.

What do I do?

In the park bigger dogs come over and sniff and wander off and that's okay. But sometimes a smaller ones come running over and they sort of nudge him about and bark, and he sits between my legs shaking.

Sometimes he lies on his back and whimpers.

Wuss.

Right, classes it is then.

He might be a bit of a petal I think. Which is nice because he's quite submissive with all of us, and he sits at dd's feet and lies his ears across her knees.

He is not a mental puppy, he is probably a poet. Just my bloody luck.

Oh and GG somewhat laughably he is called Johnny Jet.

Really, he should be called Flower or Waving Branch or Delicate China or something.

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 12:26

The kittens have arrived!?

How exciting.

Are they wussy too?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:26

what cats did you get? I didn't even know you had them yet. How exciting.

foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:33

lol at cross post.

Now cod's gone. Perhaps the kittens are so wussy she has to hold them and can't type at all.

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 12:35

Yes or perhaps they mewl at the sound of the keyboard. Perhaps it's bad for their nerves.

foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:36

she's probably gone to put her slippers on. The sound of her shoes on the floor were making the kittens pee on the carpet.

foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:37

was not were

what appalling grammar lol

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 12:39

She has to play soothing classical music and whisper under the sofa 'there are NO MICE here I promise.'

God JJ would fit in there. He'd be on top of the sofa looking doleful and writing a tone poem about his 'experiences'. Useless.

sorry was busy accepting a job on the pone

er cats ok when boys are not ehre
i am sure i jsut psoted this but it has gone

foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:43

she's moving all the sofas to try and find them because they are so well hidden.

Perhaps JJ would like the theatre? He can have his own seat and look all appreciative.

foxinsocks · 15/02/2008 12:45

ah there you are. Congrats me dear.

It won't take them long to get used to the boys? Edgar was already a cat when they were all born wasn't he?

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 12:53

My god. You can't stop accepting jobs. What's going on?

OP posts:
DualCycloneCod · 15/02/2008 12:57

what jpb?
haevnt got any others

bluenosesaint · 15/02/2008 13:08

Keep going ahundredtimes. Some puppies just need more socialisation than others.

Puppy parties are a great idea as are puppy classes. Let your puppy meet anyone and everyone and the more situations he encounters in these early months the better

Some dogs are naturally submissive, which IMO as long as they're not nervous is actually a good thing.

My GR is very submissive - she won't give eye contact to anyone bless her and gives out all the right signals to other dogs. Consequently, she has never had any confrontation from any dog because they will don't see her as a threat. She is a big softie

Good luck with your pup

bluenosesaint · 15/02/2008 13:10

"will don't see her as a threat" ?????

ahem - because they don't see her as a threat, obviously

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 13:30

I have just rung the dog classes lady, and I was WRONG. We don't start in a fortnight but on 18th March, all current classes are full.

Oh dear.

She said the same as you Bluenose and others, keep on going, do more and more and he will learn with time. Do not give in to his neurosis.

She was very hearty. She said 'Keep puppy interested and confident. Don't let puppy think you are anxious.' I'm quite looking forward to meeting her now.

god she sounds appalling

thast the thing with getting a dog

you have to mix with dog people

ahundredtimes · 15/02/2008 13:38

Oh yes she was breezy, Enid.

I quite like it.

They're so confident and up and down and 'Puppy must keep meeting other dogs' and buttoning up her Husky coat and looking the world straight in the eye.

But MY GOD, I didn't realize how many dog walking people you have to talk to when you go in the park. It's a whole new world. Someone actually waved at me this week.

magHOOVERlia74 · 15/02/2008 13:57

Oh yes and dog walkers always say 'Morning' when you walk past even if you don't have a dog with you
