I'm looking after my friend's Jack Russell tonight and she is whining and crying the place down.
She's in her bed in her cage in my lounge with the radio and a light on. Any clues??

Missing your friend I expect - she's in a strange place after all.

Do you do doggy cuddles ?

BroccoliSpears · 14/02/2008 23:36

Does she need a wee?

Does she usually sleep in her bed in her cage at home?

She's done a wee. Yes she does sleep in it. She actually fell asleep in it when I was watching ER and only woke her up to let her outside!!

Are they like babies - do they eventually stop or could this go on for hours.

Suppose I could let her on my bed - it's not my own back I'd be making the rod for - only got her for one night.

Sounds like she needed a wee then.

Best thing to do is replicate her home environment so radio on if that is what she is used to etc to give the sleep signals as already suggested.

She might go on whining all night, maybe not - they are like children, some give up easily, some detect a soft touch and try it on.

Chances are she won't expect to sleep her owners bed when she gets back home if you let her sleep on yours tonight. She might ask them to let her for a few nights then give up when she gets the message.

I would only let her sleep on your bed if she really won't settle though else you'll confuse her and be up all night!
