Worried about dearest cat

Very worried about dear cat, 13, not eating much, very sleepy and low purr, which is often.
She doesn’t have a litter tray ( small house, so discourage unless housebound),I think couple of accidents, no smell tho.
Been to vets two weeks ago, seemed ok, I just feel sad, I may not have my dear Abby not much longer.
Am I being sentimental or mad?

Can you take her back to the vet - it sounds as though she's still not quite right, but it may be something treatable - 13 isn't old for a cat nowadays.

007DoubleOSeven · 29/01/2023 22:33

I would also take her back to the vet, they need to reasses.

TheShellBeach · 29/01/2023 22:36

Definitely take her back to the vet's. I hope they can find out what's wrong.

TheShellBeach · 30/01/2023 00:44

It may be something easily treatable. I really hope so.

Did the vet take blood last time you went?

Nsky62 · 30/01/2023 12:27

Just an update, slight temperature, vets says urine infection, antibiotic injection to last two weeks and fluid.
Lost-a bit of weight, light fish diet, home now

In my experience antibiotic injections work well on cats; hopefully she should pick up quickly now.

TheShellBeach · 30/01/2023 13:58

That's hopeful, then.
With any luck your cat will pick up soon.

Nsky62 · 30/01/2023 20:34

Hoping so

My sister's cat (16 years old) was laid very low with a utility. Before the diagnosis she just lay about, not eating, not going out in the garden which she usually loved. We really thought she might die.
A course of antibiotics made her well again. She was lively, ravenous hungry and affectionate to us again.
Your cat will pick up again.

TheShellBeach · 01/02/2023 17:37

How's Abby, OP?
Improving, I hope.

Anawilliam850 · 01/02/2023 20:51

It's understandable to be worried about your dear cat. A sudden decrease in appetite, increased sleepiness, and a low purr can be signs of a medical issue and it's always best to err on the side of caution. If your cat has had a recent vet visit and was seemingly okay two weeks ago, it's possible that something new may have developed since then. I would recommend visiting your veterinarian again to have your cat evaluated and rule out any underlying health issues. It's always better to get a professional opinion and address any potential problems sooner rather than later. And please don't worry, you are not being sentimental or mad for being concerned about your cat.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. I have one who is very like her.
Cats seem to wind themselves into their owners' hearts.
She's safe and pain-free now.
Deep condolences.
