HOW DO I STRIP MY DOG?

I have a little border terrier cross patterdale and he seems to have grown the BT winter coat. I think he is losing this as i have noticed some shorter patches developing. I'm sorely tempted to go in and rip clumps of hair out but im pretty sure thats not the way - does anyone know how to strip properly. I cant be bothered to get him done professionally, but i would do it myself if i could. Do i need a stripping comb or anything?

get a brush that's got metal bristles, they pull the loose hair out - mine is a rectangle sort of shape. Just brush and brush, it should come out but you have to do it all the time to keep on top of it.

My mum sort of plucks her Jack Russel. She sits outside with him and goes over his coat plucking in fast motions and the loose bits come away in her fingers and fly off in the breeze. Obviously she's not ripping out the attached hair. He quite likes it. Clouds of white fluff everywhere.

I use both the 'pluckling' method and the metal comb with my two collies.

The brushes with the metal britsles are very good.

sounds wierd but to give you an idea use your finger and thumb and use them to gently pull/pluck at your eyebrow, going with the growth, do it slowly and build up speed, you will find that you pull loose brows out but it doesnt hurt. thats what you need to do to your dogs coat.

i can also recommend getting an old towel and sitting at the kitchen table as it can take bloody ages to strip a dog.
