Cat food

Pls help . Our cat is driving us to distraction . She will not eat any of the cat foods we’ve tried and over the few years we’ve had her she’ll eat some brands sometimes and others other times but now getting to the stage that she’s constantly pushing us for food ( otherwise she’ll scratch us ) but rejecting everything we put out ).
anyone had any luck with a particular brand of cat food that their cat accepted when others failed that isn’t available in the major supermarkets ( as we’ve tried all those )?

Our cat has always been a fussy eater and also has a sensitive stomach. We tried Katkin a few months ago and he loves it and he is healthier too. It is a subscription btw, but you can make changes, for us it works out cheaper as there is no waste!

Our cats will only eat Gourmet Perle pouches and whiskers dry food.

Anything else they either go off or upsets their stomaches. I feel bad as they only have the same food everyday, with the odd can of tuna as a treat.

They don't seem to mind though and are always excited and meowing for their breakfast/dinner.

It's bloody expensive though.

Have you tried just plain poached chicken and rice ? Or frozen pollack? Mine like this when they fancy a change from commercial cat food. Better for them too, no additives.

Thank you all . She sometimes has some chicken that we’re eating and likes it but then if I give it to her again she won’t eat it . I’ve tried gourmet Perele .
Maybe I can try katkin then ?

Recently put mine onto katkins, he seems to like all the flavours, clean bowl every time. You do need space in your freezer to keep a months worth of pouches (28 as it’s one a day)

One of my cats would never eat tinned catfood but happily ate tinned pilchards in tomato sauce or brine along with dry cat food. I would use a big jar to store the fish in the fridge. Maybe doesn't sound healthy but she lived to be over 20 😺

Maybe look at the percentage meat content of the brands you’re using, some are very low, as low as 4%, and cats are obligate carnivores. Also does your cat prefer wet or dry … with one cat we had it took me a while to figure out it only wanted dry food. They can be so fussy, our current cat likes dry and we give her Royal Canin, another brand previous cats have liked is Hills Science Plan, good luck !

Our cat will only eat Blink cat food, we tried so many other brands, although he will sometimes eat the Lily's Kitchen dried food (but not their wet food, he won't touch that).

ThNk you everyone I’ve ordered katkin on a trial pack basis .
the other problem is she won’t drink water - I’ve tried keeping the bowl extremely clean and the water cold and putting it very far away ( different room ) from litter tray and food . All manner of things but she won’t drink . I wonder whether some of the agitation and pestering with her claws is due to thirst ? Anyone had this and found a solution ?

I’ve just swapped our mats to Katkin, about 6 weeks ago.

I mix in some water with the food - a couple of teaspoons of boiling water, just to warm it up a bit.

cats love most of the types, have fully empty bowls every time and no more dodgy tummies. Cat1 regularly used to regurgitate his meals, and cat2 was v v fussy, but they both seem happier and more energetic. One is 12 and the other 13.

good luck

Cats - duh

Another vote for Katkins here too. I used to throw most of the Felix away. Litter tray is now less smelly and there's less cat vomit incidents.

If you haven’t already spoken with a vet then I would do so to rule out an underlying health problem. Is she up to date with worming ? Just a thought when you mention her becoming agitated. Ours has someone you can talk to about nutrition, I haven’t used this service yet but was told I could just email them if I had any queries, so it wouldn’t necessarily mean having to bring her in to get some initial advice. Sounds weird but also check her poo, it can tell you a lot, e.g if it’s become more dry maybe she isn’t getting enough water (if she goes outside a lot she’ll be drinking from puddles). If you’re happy it isn’t a health problem then a way I got my cat to drink more was to put more water bowls out … near her favourite places to sit … she often notices them and has a quick drink. Hope you get to the bottom of it 😊

When mine was on dried food he drank a full ( small) bowl of water a day. On katkin he doesn’t drink much at all it seems , as his bowl is still pretty full when it is washed, but he is still weeing for England. There seems to be plenty of moisture in the food, though then katkins people say if you are worried, or want to warm the food up , you can easily add a bit of warm water to the dish.

(he does come into the bathroom when I am brushing my teeth and insist on the tap being on a dribble ,some he flicks about, but he also drinks a bit I think)
