Advantage no longer working on cat fleas

Has anyone else had this problem recently? If so what are you using now? I've used advantage for a few years but it seems to have stopped working. I used to use frontline years ago and the same thing happened.

We used to use Advantage on the boy, but then the effectiveness seemed to tail off. Our vet recommended Advocate, which I think is basically the same, but combined flea and wormer. (It might be stronger too, I'm not sure) We've been using that ever since and he's been fine. He's allergic to fleas, so it's very obvious if he has any, poor boy.
