Missing cat and need some hope

My cat went missing Saturday 19th November (11 days now) from Castelnau in SW London, he is a ginger tom and very friendly. No collar but is chipped. I'm beside myself and have done all the recommended suggestions, posting leaflets, posters up, notified vets and neighbours, registered with Animal Search, Battersea cats, pet finder and pet log. But nothing. Anyone in the area if you could check your sheds and garages and spread the word i would be so grateful. Also if anyone has any experience of cats coming back after 11 days I can cling to that would be really helpful.

I got my girl back after 10 weeks. She was tagged with an id disk and some very kind people rang me.

Years ago we found my cat after a couple of weeks , he was under a car , not sure how long he had been there or where he had been before , it is quite common cats get drawn to the heat of the engine in the winter , maybe walk around the area late at night/very early morning if you haven't already because it's quieter , that is how I found another cat I lost -he was locked in someone's garage and I could hear his very faint meows- I really hope you find him Flowers

We had a ginger Tom when I was little who used to wander off for days. Always came back eventually. I think many cats have links to other homes which they visit and you know nothing about.
My sister used to see her cat looking at her from a neighbour's bedroom window when she returned from work.
One of mine goes off for hours and sometimes days but comes back, suspiciously not hungry!
Oh and just remembered a few years ago, a very fraught lady came round , not seen her cat for days and days. Said puss had been frolicking in my garden with a friend for days. Still didn't appear though when her owner called. No morals, cats!
Your friendly cat may well be close by but just not in sight. He may be seeing you but not bothered with returning just yet. Got something else on his mind.

Mine came back after four and a half months, if I hadn't been checking the security cameras daily and leaving food out for him (scared ex feral) I would never have known. Don't give up hope!

Thanks all so much for these very kind and helpful messages. Am going out with more leaflets today. Have already been out early mornings 5.30am calling and shaking dreamies but will try late at night. Its just so awful not knowing. I wish to god I'd put one of those trackers on him now. Feel a little bit like I'm losing my mind ☹️

If he's chipped there's a good chance someone will get it checked if he's lost or injured, so that's good. Hope he wanders back in soon for you! I spent ages not sleeping to watch for ours, I know how distressing it can be. Stay positive for him.

Out cat was missing for a week. DH found her sat on a wall not far from our house but on the other side of a busy road. She is a very friendly cat and will meow and purr happily at passing strangers. She would never cross this road - so we think someone picked her up and carried her across.

I think it is worth looking a bit further afield than you think. If your cat has somehow found himself in a similar situation then he won’t be able to use his scent to find his way home.

Hi both and thanks so much for those messages. Still no sign, today is day 12 and I feel like I'm losing my mind. A potential sighting across the road a few streets away but when I got there the cat had gone. I'll go back today. My road is quite a long one and Ive posted leaflets through most of the doors now and a few streets across the road. Same as you I thought mine would never cross the road but yesterday a neighbour across the road said shed seen him a few times in her garden weeks ago so maybe they do go further than we think. He is chipped so fingers crossed if someone sees him they take him to a vets to be scanned. Thanks again both X

Hello everyone

I wondered if anyone with missing cat babies had any updates?

Our little rescue has gone missing, it's 10 days and we're devastated. He'd only been with us for 7 weeks, desperate to go out and that was it.

He's had a horrible previous life and was just starting to get used to us. I feel so awful for him, we really let him down. I promised nothing would hurt him again.

Your good news stories are so helpful x
