Newly blind cat

My cat has gone blind in one eye. Vet is aware and has checked her out. I was told she’d adapt quickly. But she doesn’t seem to. She’s very subdued and very cautious. I think she avoids having to walk around and won’t eat much unless we bring food to her. And even then, she seems to have difficulty locating the food in her bowl. Is this normal? Thank you.

she should still be able to locate the food in her bowl particularly if she has vision in one eye, I think cats use their whiskers to navigate so she should still be able to live a normal life, give it a few more days but if no improvement she may have something else going on which so best take advice from your vet.

Thank you, LadyVictoria. She was doing okay-ish but is now unsteady on her feet. Her gait has changed significantly, i think she’s dying. Waiting for vet to open and rushing her in.
