Dog eating a foil cupcake wrapper

My Labrador who doesn’t usually eat anything they shouldn’t (odd for a Labrador!) are a foil cupcake wrapper yesterday that I dropped on the floor, I had already eaten the cupcake. I’m concerned as it was a foil one. She has been eating lots of grass today and has had a bit of a dodgy tummy. I have convinced myself it’s going to cause an obstruction. Am I right to be worried or should I just keep an eye on her? Other than the grass eating/dodgy tummy she is her usually zoomy, bonkers self.

Thank you.

Keep an eye on their poo, mine have eaten socks and they came out the other end.

Peonypetalperfume · 20/09/2022 20:48

Will keep an eye, I haven’t seen anything come out yet!

When I saw your post title my first thought was if it’s a Labrador it’ll most likely be fine.
Over the years ours have eaten quite a few different things and all come out without a trip to the vet.
I would give it a few days and it will probably come out in some sick. One of ours liked eating the babies dummies and he was fine.

I would take her to a vet. I have a friend who's dog snaffled half a chopstick from a takeaway left on the pavement. It perforated his intestine, I imagine a foil wrapper could be just as sharp.

Thank you @Orangesare , that’s good to know! She has taken me by surprise as you can usually leave anything non-food based out and she won’t touch it. That’s one of her redeeming factors, there are many that aren’t quite so redeeming!

@Floydthebarber thank you for your message. It was kind of a soft foil one, but yes, I don’t want anything to happen to her. I will ring for advice on the morning.

Mine have eaten tin foil. Came out in the following few days. No adverse effects.

NancyVicious · 20/09/2022 20:58

Mine has monstered his way through many a foil tray, sock and all manner of other items over the years. Always been fine

Peonypetalperfume · 20/09/2022 20:59

Perhaps with these stories I just need to get used to dogs eating random items!

Shiny shit incoming.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/09/2022 21:01

Mine has also eaten all sorts, a little tin foil will be absolutely fine!

@UrsulaPandress 🤣

She will probably be fine but it might put your mind at rest if you ring the vet. They'll probably say keep an eye, and watch out for strange symptoms.
I don't envy whoever has the job of poking around looking for it, it'll probably be all flat and in bits so it'll be quite a task 😅

@Unforgettablefire well my husband works from home so I guess that job falls to him whilst she is on his watch!
