Hi all, just posting for some moral support and any further suggestions/help.

my lovely boy Georgie (neutered and chipped) went missing last Saturday, the first day of our holiday. Our neighbour came in to feed him and they had cuddles….Saturday night he went out (I watched him on my cat camera) and he hasn’t come back since, nor does it appear that anyone has seen him! I’ve contacted all the local vets and the council. Posted on the Nexrdoor App, our posters up, will post flyers to all neighbouring roads tomorrow. I’ve been out calling for him, left his bedding, our worn clothes out, and topped the contents of the hoover over the back lawn and at the front of the house. I’m so distraught and just wish we’d never gone away.

please give me hope xx

Our girl once disappeared for 10 days; we had given up hope but then she came back. You are doing all the right things. Sending positive thoughts Flowers

My cat recently disappeared for 18 days, turned up the day we returned from our holiday. She's an old lady now and has never really learnt how to cat (only thing she's ever hunted was a moth), so we assumed she'd taken herself off to die peacefully. Anyway, she's a bit skinny but alive and kicking! Acting like she's never been away.

Hope your boy comes back soon OP Flowers

My friends cat was recently found after 6 days, they had put up posters and someone called to say they had seen him in a park which turned out to be right by their house!

My boy went missing for a week. We put flyers through the neighbours doors and got a phone call the next day to say he had been found locked in the garage of the couple over the road. Fingers crossed that something similar has happened to yours.

Thanks for your lovely messages and support everyone, today is day 9. He has taken himself off before but only for 3 days. I guess I assumed he’d be back when he heard us home.

I am going out with 500 flyers today to put through as many doors as humanly possible! Praying he strolls in 🙏🏼X

@Antarcticant were there any sightings of your girl? There don’t seem to be any confirmed of our Georgie! Did she just turn up or did you find her somewhere?xx

Does your street have a Whatsapp group or similar way of letting everyone in the area know to look out for your cat?

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 01/08/2022 11:05

Op you do know this is dcat's way of punishing you for going away don't you?
Keep shouting. And don't give up hope.

NNSingers · 01/08/2022 11:07

@kellj yes I have sent a zillion messages on the road WhatsApp group. And keep posting on the Nextdoor app. I’m doing all I can but feels like it’s not enough.

@Hotenoughtoburnasausage i do hope it is that. I can’t believe how much I’ve cried about this, and how much sleep I’ve lost!!

No sightings. She disappeared - we searched everywhere, we put up posters etc. No sign. We were heartbroken and had given up.

Then on the 10th day my husband went out to our detached garage to get something - naturally the garage had been one of the first places we looked for her - and lo and behold, there she was sitting on a shelf! We always left the garage door open (nothing of value in there) so she must have come back overnight and hunkered down in there. I will never forget him coming back into the house in triumph with our girl in his arms!

Day 10 today and really starting to lose hope. I had a call yesterday from someone who was convinced they could see Georgie on their road, I raced round there and it wasn't him....oh the disappointment :( xx

Cats I have known who have been missing for this long have usually been trapped somewhere. Go out and call very late at night when it is quiet so easier to hear if he meows. He may well be stuck in the shed or garage of someone else who has gone away on holiday. Knocking on doors and asking people is often better than leaflets although posters and leaflets are good too.
Also - this is upsetting but ask the refuse men, as they might have found him if he has been killed on the road.
I hope he is home again soon.

NNSingers · 02/08/2022 09:26

@SirVixofVixHall thanks for your message, I have been out a few times but will go out again tonight and in the early hours. Im just in such an anxious panic about it all the time.

We have spoken to the council who have confirmed they haven't picked any cats up since Georgie disappeared.
