Hey mamas.... once again I'm turning to this group. This is going to be a little long but just bear with me as I need to get this day out on "paper".
My second sweet baby girl was just born on July 26, at 8:54 pm. I had a very rough labour and was absolutely euphoric to have my baby in my arms and so excited to take her home to her sister.
We get home around 3pm the next day, June 2020 LO was at nursery. I get a call from nursery before we even make it to our apartments that June 2020 baby is losing her mind screaming mama, mama, throwing herself on the floor, banging her head on the floor etc stuff I've never ever seen her do (or they).
I left the newborn with my fiancé, ran (RAN, less than 24 hrs postpartum birthing a 9lbs5 baby) to get her from nursery, brought her home, she seemed to be fine with me, even if I did have to sit on the ground and breastfeed her for a few seconds to get her to enter the building (she's been weaned but we do sometimes have lapses for very very short feeds just because I don't want to say no to the connection she requires)
The girls are meeting each other, everything is going well. I'm talking to my mum (she was around watching the toddler while we were at the birthing centre) and we were literally looking at our cat, Ini, and saying look how lovely he is, but I bet he isn't excited about another baby ha ha, etc etc. He was playing, you know how cats sometimes just sort of run into another room. He did that like suddenly dashed, I didn't think anything of it. Then I heard him let out some weird meows from the corridor, I get over there with my newborn in my arms and he's on the ground, tongue out, limp, unresponsive, barely breathing. We check that he isn't choking, there's no vomit, nothing seems to have happened out of the ordinary at all.
I'm still barefoot, I grab him and call our emergency vet number who sent us to a veterinary hospital, my mum runs to get the car, I'm clutching him, panicking, we drive to the hospital but it was clear to me he passed in the first few minutes of that journey.
The vet said there was nothing they could do, it was probably a heart attack. She said even people get
Those suddenly, from undiagnosed health problems or clots or whatever else. Obviously I'm fairly sure there's no accessible poisons in our house since we have a toddler, everything was fine and then he was just gone. I cried. My poor fiancé for the fist time ever with this new baby at home and also our toddler, also heartbroken, as we drive back from the hospital.
I just can't even process how, why? Our beautiful little baby cat (we call him that because he was actually quite big) was completely healthy as far as we knew. He had yearly checkups and vaccines, though he was an indoor only cat. His last checkup was in October and he was perfect weight, the vet listened to his heart etc everything was fine. He was so happy. Just the night before he was lying there next to me purring as I was in early labour with contractions. My emotional support cat. We had him for three and a half years, he was a rescue and we loved him so so so much. He was perfect. Beautiful, good natured, loving. I can't believe he's gone.
Has this happened to anyone else? Why so sudden? Im just in complete shock, im numb from not sleeping for two nights and complete emotional overload. He passed away around 7 pm, less than 24 hours after our beautiful baby was born. Just doesn't seem to be possible.
Thank you if you made it reading this far.
