we have two dogs, two cats, a budgie, a parrot, two goldfish, and dh keeps tropical fish.

I've always had animals and I love them. and now that I'm not toing to have more children I kind of see my animals as my substitute children (don't treat them like humans though!).

but people always say things like "oh that's an awful lot of animals.

anyone else have lots of pets?

yesterday ds said to dh "daddy can we get rabbits and guinea pigs" and dh said yes! , although did say "one day".

I'n our house at the minute we have 2 dogs and a cat - rabbit died a few months ago and kids are now asking if they can get a tortoise and i'm tempted to let them!!!

I grew up in a house with lots of pets because my mum breeds Jack Russells so i think i'm used to having animals around!

At the moment we have a cat,3 guinea pigs and a hamster plus two ponies. I used to breed guinea pigs and at one time had 40+ . In the past we've had rabbits, fish and a canary. I didn't really grow up with loads of pets, had a cat and later on a dog but I've always loved animals .

Madoldcatlady · 11/01/2008 23:44

Not loads but we have 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 rabbits.

Until recently we also had a horse.

We're going on holiday on Tuesday. Went shopping today to get supplies to keep them all fed while we're away.

It came to almost £70! How can that be? I was shocked but no where near as shocked as DH! Hre was never mad keen on pets. He's even less now.

MrsKittylette · 11/01/2008 23:47

I have 2 rabbits and will have 2 chickens come spring. I also have a dog but he doesnt live with us!

So just the rabbits at the mo...so no,lol

Coby · 12/01/2008 00:05

Used to have lots - 2 dogs (great danes), 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit, 15 chinchillas, tropical fish...

DH thinks pets are pointless and a waste of time [angry x 1000] so since being with him the pet numbers have declined. I'm slowly building things up though currently 1 x cat (PITA), 2 guinea pigs, tropical fish. Will get a dog when DCs are older and I can devote enough time to him and the DCs, DH and other pets. Will be getting some Chooks next year - house installed just need to chicken proof.

Very jealous of all those with doggies - I miss mine so much, feel very weird going for a walk on my own even 5 years on.

We have eight cats.

We use to trap, tame and rehome Feral cats. Got to know the local cat shelters and a sucker for a sob story, so ended up with a few 'problem' cats. That said the 'problems' haven't shown themselves.

For example. Our so called monster biting cat, never bite us (though we saw him in action before we homed him) and in fact is our most cuddly cat who greets all strangers demand strokes. The couple of ex-feral cats are very friendly now and demand attention (on their own terms)

Only got one dog, one cat, one rabbit and 7 snails now.
At one time had, two dogs, four cats, 25 gerbils, 16 hamsters, two rabbits, one parrot and four tortoises

NutterlyUts · 12/01/2008 00:17

Two dogs and a parrot, soonish to be three dogs and a parrot!!

MummyPenguin · 14/01/2008 12:16

Two fairly large dogs (Lab and Golden Retriever) and a cat who clearly thinks he's a dog. Prefers dog food to cat food and accompanies us on walkies much to the amusement of passers by! My three always remind me of the animals in 'The Incredible Journey.'

LadyOfTheCauliFlowers · 14/01/2008 12:18

We have 2 dogs, in excess of 30 fish and 2 large snails housed in two 3 foot tanks.
My Ma has 5 cats.

pedilia · 24/02/2008 23:35

We have 2 beagles and 2 rabbits. Did have 3 cats but 2 died and one went off to live with a neighbour! plan to get a kitten when dc are older. Tried to rehome an older cat, and our house stressed the poor creature half to death, so he had to go back . Did have a guinea pig , who lived for 5 days - I was inconsolable, kids were rubbing my back saying, "it's ok, mummy- we can get another one!"

Loshad · 25/02/2008 10:41

We have a horse, pony, dog, cat, rabbit, 3 fish, 21 chickens. One person said I sounded like veruca salt, she'd asked me if we had any animals and I was most embarassed.
