My cat hasn't eaten for 2 days

This is a problem as she has medication in each meal. I found some red, wet mess outside today so assume she has had something she shouldn't. She seems happy enough. Ate a small piece of roast duck at teatime but hasn't eaten any fresh biscuits we put down. Oh, what to do?

red mess as in containing blood?

Try and tempt her with warmed pilchards in tomato sauce, tuna in oil, chicken mashed up small. What medication is she on?

Oh heck, I never thought of blood.

She is on phenobarbitol

I would take thee to the vet tomorrow. the red poo and lack of eating would have me slightly worried, but it may be unconnected. The not eating makes me the most concerned to be honest.

She is asleep at the moment. We will offer her breakfast and if she doesn't eat that I will ring the vet. Haven't got any tinned fish in unfortunately.

Are you able to this once just wrap her up in a towel and administer her tablets to her at all - she really needs to keep the doses of that up if at all possible. Good luck - I know some cats can be really hard work to get tablets into. If she does seizure and has not had her meds then please call your emergency vet number before tomorrow.
Good luck at the vets tomorrow otherwise.

NutterlyUts suggestion of warming the food is often a good tactic. A bit of warm fresh cooked chicken is often quite welcome too.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 06/01/2008 20:52

Right. That's good. Have managed to give her her tablet and have put down fresh water and food. She is slowly eating some of the food.

She hasn't had any seizures in the time she has not had her tablet so I am pleased about that.

She feels like she has put weight on and looks bigger too.

The other day her front leg was shaking a bit and she slipped the day before but I am so worried about her, I don't know if I am looking for things.

She has a touch of arthritis in her back leg too.

She has had a tiny amount of food.

Came down this morning and she hadn't eaten any more. Offered her fresh food and she had one tiny taste. Refused a small piece of bacon and chicken. Will be ringing the vet when I get back from school.

If she did eat something that didn't agree with her, shouldn't she be okay by now?

I am so worried about her.

I don't know if it is linked to her illness or something else.

I know she is only a cat but she is 13 and I have had her since she was 5 weeks old. Have had her longer than I have known my husband.

I rang the vet once home as she had left her treat. I had to take her straight down.

She has been treated for gastro-enteritis and if she doesn't start eating within the next 24-48 hours I have to take her back for blood tests.

That's good though NAB - there's a problem as to why she won't eat not just her not eating, so its much more positive

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 07/01/2008 13:57

She has had a little bit of food and has been asleep for the last couple of hours.
