Do cats know when you are having a bad time

My part bengal girl not a lapcat at all cat has chosen to sit next to me on my sofa tonight - it's very rare.

I'm scared can they sense the loss of a loved one?

I had a long haired rescue moggie in 2019 after 10 years who interrupted wrapping Dad's Father day's present on a Friday in 2019 only to start the dying on Saturday.

My current girl is in the very best of health but my bother who had an accident a few years ago isn't - he has got some infections and I'm terrified my cat maybe trying to tell me something.

Very very unlikely, it’s just coincidence
I hope your brother is ok but honestly, your cat isn’t telling you anything other than it wants something from you

Yes, really, they're lovely animals, but entirely self-centred! And no special powers. I really hope your brother is fine. Have a cuddle with the cat if it helps. But don't overestimate her telepathy.

When ours behaves strangely it's down to gluttony or fleas.

I think cats can tell if their human is upset in some way. My last two would cuddle up to me if I was feeling low, and I did feel comforted.

My cat too understands if I am upset and come sit beside me silently. I wonder how they do this!

Please don't worry.

Cats can tell when we're upset or unwell and might show affection in these cases but they're not psychic and I promise her sitting next to you had nothing to do with your brother.

She's probably just picking up on your feelings.
