Newborn and pets - any advice

Hello,

I'm due next month and we have an older cat and a 2year old little dog. Both are well behaved but our little rescue dog does get nervous and anxious still.

Please can anyone give advice on what to do or not do when you have a newborn and pets?
I assume I will have to shut both cat and dog out of our bedroom when the baby is here?

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice x

There's advice on preparing your dog for a new baby on the Dogs Trust website here:

No experience with dogs but we do have 2 cats and I was really nervous about them getting in the crib with baby. The first few months they were very wary of him though and barely came close, then when they did get brave he was starting to notice things more and would try and swipe at them so they learned to keep their distance haha. Having said that 1 will keep away in the day but does sleep in his cot at night since he moved from the moses basket which I did try and stop to no avail but im not nervous about it now as she's always by his feet and gets out if he rolls over to much.
