Introducing puppy to older dog

We have decided to get a new puppy so our dog can have a friend to play with. She's 8, used to have a lot of doggy friends but since we moved, almost 2 years ago, she hasn't had a chance to get any playtime with other dogs.
What is the best way to introduce the puppy? ( we didn't adopt as we have 2 very young children) any advice welcome, puppy is the same breed.

We've done this over the last 3 weeks,we have 2 Chihuahuas one is 5 the other 13 weeks.
The older one refused to cone out of his bed in the kitchen for the first few days but gradually he's getting more and more tolerant.Im really proud of him actually because he's been on his own for all this time.
My friend has just got a second dig and hers is fine with the pup though so it might just depend on the breed/pup Chihuahuas are arse holes

We bought our lab puppy when our old boy was 12! He totally ignored her for a couple of days, lol she didn’t exist (which was an achievement in its self !

She absolutely adored him from the second she met him, slowly he started to let her lay near him.

We made sure his routine was kept the same. And made sure puppy respected his space, food, bed etc
She was 10 months old when he passed away, then spent those 10 months having the best time! He taught her so much (including how to swim and behave with visitors). I’m so pleased she had him.
