I was with Direct Line for years till my cat turned 12 years old - then it got rather expensive. Claimed on it once and there were no problems.

Have now swapped to M&S pet insurance, much cheaper and I got money back by clicking through to the website using Rpoints. Have yet to make a claim on it though.

Just heard the PDSA has launched their own -

www.pdsa.org.uk/petinsurance.html

and the charity gets a cut. Mentioned in the newsletter from our local cat charity, but I don't know any more about it.

We're with Petplan but now 16.50 per month for an old cat, but they have been good over the years.

We have both our cats insured with Direct Line and have found them to be very good and so simple to make a claim.
But as Cece said, although we've been with them for years,it is now fairly expensive at £26 a month. Was only about £15 when we first joined!

Make sure you look for a cover for life policy that will keep paying out if you pet is unlucky enough to get a managable condition but one that can not be cured - allergic skin disease, diabetes etc etc. Petplan are my favourite talking from a professional point of view - they pay up quickly and do not quibble over things like many of the other companies do. They are not the cheapest, but I do think they are good at what they do.

I was with More Than, which was very reasonable, but have just switched to Healthy Pets Ltd, under £10 a month for a very large dog!

I'm with tesco, although thats for a dog, but they were very competitive and do the cover for life plans.

Totally agree with getting a cover for life policy, otherwise I can't really see the point in getting insurance.
Btw,what I pay for our cats is the top level of cover with Direct Line.I think they do 3 levels in total and obviously the other ones are cheaper.
