Am I being the mug here ?

Recently rescued 5 year old DSH - she's lovely
Settled really well , kept inside for 6 weeks , always been very keen to get outside so slowly but surely she got to go out with open door , then had to teach her the cat flap which seemed unfamiliar to her

She definitely can do it , I have 100% seen her go out and come in it

But , I am now waking myself at least twice during the night to check she is in to find she's gone out the cat flap and is cowering in pouring rain , crying in garden
Open door , runs in crying with gratitude
Go back to sleep , wake again to find she's done it again !

If I lock it , she cries at the door which wakes me also so not any better

All I want is for her to use the cat flap , go out and come back in
Especially if weather is vile and she's going to be wet cold miserable
Why is she not doing so ?
If she is one of the few who don't mind the rain why is she cowering and crying

It's really starting to upset me that as the weather is now changing she will be stuck outside if I am out at work , out for day , fast asleep in horrible weather , she just doesn't seem to consistently come back in cat flap and I can't find a reason why ?

Am I being stupid ?

Can you prop it open for a few nights?

Thank you for reply , I was thinking that but tried a few things and it didnt seem too sturdy , rounded edges
May try a bit of string round door handle ?
Such a horrible feeling to think she's out there
But she's the one going out 😂
