I’ll try to keep it short but I can go on…

We had a new puppy and the first day we had her we could tell she was itching loads but didn’t think too much of it as she was up to date with flea treatment

Day 2: I combed her with a flea comb and found a flea 😱 I spent the rest of the day obsessively googling and fretting that my house was now going to become flea ridden

Day 3: hot washed all bedding, bathed the puppy (just tea tree pet shampoo) sprayed the whole house with frontline spray for homes. Had a panic attack and mini breakdown

Day 4: questioned my life decisions, feelings of regret followed by guilt.
Called the vet who prescribed a flea treatment, this one lasts for 12 weeks.
Washing, washing, washing, more fretful stressing and googling.

Please can someone reassure me that everything should be ok. Believe me I’ve read some horror stories.
Surely pets can get fleas and peoples houses don’t turn into flea ridden pits.

If you can’t tell, I’m an anxious person, I go from 0-1000 very quickly. Please tell me this is common and everything I’ve done should nip it in the bud.

Hi @Charl1987 I'm sorry you are going through this!
I have been told and also found out myself that Indorex spray is what you want for treating your home. VetUK usually have it fairly cheap, compared to if you buy it from your vets or a pet store.

You should ideally vacuum once or twice a day as well as using a suitable spray (use as directed on the packaging), emptying the vacuum cleaner into a bag and sealing, if you have a bagless vacuum cleaner.

I personally wouldn't threat so much! I have a puppy and a few months ago I took her for a walk, she got very muddy and so I gave her a bath I found 1 flea on her (even though she has flea treatment monthly) and just made sure it went down the plug whole, hoovered the house and didnt see any after that. I honestly would not worry about it. I think as long as you give your dog flea treatment when it is advised to apply then you should be ok
