Untrained dog jumping up

My parents won't train their small dog so he jumps up at the children and I every time we go round. Heading over today... does anyone have any tips please? Should dog be kept behind baby gate until he's calmed down? Should we ignore hun? Greet him and get the jumping over and done with?

Small dogs get away with all kinds of behaviour that wouldn’t be tolerated in big dogs.
Will your parents keep him behind a safety gate, or pop a lead on him? If you text a few minutes before you walk in, either of those would help. Training not to jump up needs determination and consistency - I found putting a lead on one of mine, training him to sit on a mat when people arrived worked. It wasn’t a quick solution and everyone has to work at it

Unfortunately it's going to take consistent training from your parents to get a handle on this. Even though it's a small dog, it still needs work and could scare small children.
