My ds's very loved kitten has disappeared

He is 6 mths old neutered and has never strayed away before. He has only been missing a day but I have already told the police who are our neighbours and all the immediate neighbours who know him well and we have searched in his area with no luck.

I have a very bad feeling about it although have checked all local lanes and no small ginger corpse.

My ds (6) is terribly upset as they adored each other - if he doesn't come back - how do you advise talking about it to a child. We lost my rabbits two months ago and that was bad enough but his kitten....

Cats do have weird moments sometimes, and do this totally out of character stuff.

The call to the wild and so on.

Could well be locked in somewhere. Perhpas you could do some posters?

missymousie · 29/11/2007 19:12

Yes I'll do posters tomorrow pm after work as he might have chosen last night as his first big wander.

....and probably if I do he'll be back just as I return from putting them up.

But am still worried that there might not be a happy ending - hasn't been a good term and my optimism has run out

any joy yet?

missymousie · 30/11/2007 19:08

Not yet but haven't given up hope everyone around is very upbeat - he IS very adventurous/mischievious and ds has headed off to Grandma/dads so no 15 minute checks

thanks for thinking of us I really appreciate it

missymousie, our beloved kittie went missing overnight for the first time when she was about the same age, I was so upset, dc were in bed so I dreaded the morning with them coming downstairs & she wasn't there. The little monkey turned up about 10am the following morning 9 weeks later she had 3 beautiful baby girls not a problem you will have to worry about I'm afraid she still does go walkabouts overnight sometimes, I don't like it, but can't stop her, I would just like to know where she goes I'm sure your kitten will be back soon, starving I expect after his adventure.

I would suggest you ring around the local vets in the morning and check whether or not he has been taken in there. Even if he has not (hopefully) most vets will keep a note of lost and found pets so they can match you up if a similar found report is received.

Is he microchipped? Well worth getting this done if he isn't already, when he comes home - and neutered too if not already done. It helps remove the want to stray as much once their hormones settle down.

Best of luck finding him.
