yorkshire terrier advice?

A firend picked up a stray yorkshire Terrier on the school run and asked if I'd mind it until she found the owner (she has a big dog that might eat it). It had no collar and was trying to dodge traffic.
He's very sweet but he seems nervous. He also puked in the car on the second school run. We've rung the guards but no one's reported him missing yet. I'd love to keep him if he has no owner as he's such a quiet, affectionate little thing. But in the meantime what does he need to eat? We have no other dogs and I only had German Shepherds when we were young so don't know what I should give him.
I also don't want to give him anything to eat if it means he might puke again.

When dogs have a dodgy digestion the vets usually recommend a small feed of white rice and chicken. You could try that.
Alternatively, a very small feed of one of those 'Caesar' pouches for over-indulged small dogs (if he's nervous he might need enticing with something extra tasty)

You should take him to the vets so they can scan him, he might have an i.d chip implanted. Might be a good idea to put posters up around the area you found him, someone is bound to be missing him. As far as food is concerned, it's difficult to know what to give him when you don't know what he's used to and he's been sick (although that might just have been car-sickness, which animals can get as well!) Maybe just some dry dog food if you can get a hold of it, or chicken and rice, something bland until you're sure he won't puke again... HTH

Thanks, I'll try the rice as (tmi) there seemed to be chicken in his puke.

Good idea about the vets, scanning and posters.
