Should I try to rehome my cat?

I have two cats, a male who is around 5 who I rescued when he was about 2, and a 2 year old female cat that I adopted from Cats protection when she was 3 months old. Long story short but last year I was asked to move out of the house I rented as the landlord wanted to move in. The house had a massive back garden which backed onto fields. She LOVED to be outside and would be out most of the time especially in the summer, just coming back for food and cuddles.

The house I am now living in has a nasty cat living a few doors down, and after initially keeping my cats in for a few weeks to adjust to the new house, she only went out a couple of times then she just refused to go out - I suspect she has been threatened by the nasty cat, as my male cat was actually attacked by this cat but he is very bold and still goes out regardless. I have tried accompanying my little girl cat outside but she just runs straight to the door and meows to go back in the house. It's been 6 months and there's just no improvement.

I feel so bad for her and I am contemplating asking my old neighbour who I am friends with if she could take her for a bit to see whether she would go outside again back where she was happy.

Just really don't know what to do, I just feel like it's a damn shame that she's stuck inside when I know she used to love going out, and I feel like not giving her a chance to go somewhere where she would go back out again is selfish of me?

That seems sad but would another move, to stay with someone new, be more stressful for her? She would likely keep trying to get back in your/her old house if your old neighbour agreed to have her.
DSis had a cat that didn’t want to go out after previously roaming. She would sit in the open doorway in the sun but didn’t want to go out, she seemed happy enough.
