Young cat with newly folded ear

Since a few days ago my 8 month old female kitten has the tip of one ear folded forward about 40 degrees.
It doesn’t hurt, there is no itching , inflammation, discharge, pain( you can rub it without her minding) irritation or loss of appetite. She seems well in every other way and unaware of her ear.

Does anyone know what is going on with it?

“Folded ear tips in cats are usually associated with the longterm use of anti-inflammatory steroid drugs, usually in the form of daily eye or ear medications. It can also occur due to damage caused by longterm exposure to the sun”

But if there hasn’t been any medication used

“Some feline ear abnormalities are genetically transferred from parents to offspring. Among these is an inherited condition known as “fold-ears,” in which the tip of a cat's pinna is bent sharply either toward or away from the skull. This bizarre condition is not often associated with hearing loss”

If it’s genetic though, I can’t imagine it would come on suddenly?
