Black Retriever - help

My partners black retriever LOVES to get wet and muddy (and smelly) and I HATE it. If I had it my way he would be washed every couple of days. When he bring the dog over for a few days with him when he comes to stay with me. I spend most of my time cleaning the house after the dog.

The dog bed hat he has is fleece material and forever stuck with bits of chew, bone and everything else and just basically stinks. I refuse to put that in my washing machine. So I wash fresh blankets and put them in the bed regularly but you can smell the actual bed. Can anyone recommend a good bed that can take the size of a retriever and be easily and regularly washed? I’ve looked online but they still appear to be the big plump fleece material versions and they just don’t fit in my machine.

I am slowly losing the will with the dirty paws on my light laminate too but then I am very house proud and my partner has very different standards to me.

You can get completely washable/hoseable dog beds from Tuffies - they are £££ though!

You can get large plastic beds that you the stick washable pads in.

Our dog has a bed but refuses to sleep in it. Luckily we wash him regularly and he never sheds any hair so he's not too smelly (or maybe I'm.nose blind).

When I wash the throw we have on the sofa where he is allowed i throw on some white vinegar, gets rid of all smells. Don't overdo it though, or it will smell like a chip shop!

Get a dog bag!
It’s a giant sleeping bag towel thing
You zip the dog in when they get back from the walk and leave them in there for an hour or so, until they are dry and the mud has fallen off

I’ve got some in the boot of the car and inside the back door, and the dogs go straight in whenever they are wet or muddy

They are also good for after a bath

There are various sellers of them but these are the cheapest I found

Our dog has a big cushion with removable cover that we zip off and wash and also regularly wash his blankets
