Piggie Questions

Hi

Is it safe to use the spot stuff for piggies to stop worms/other parasites?

Shampoo recommendations? Want to try to prevent them getting any parasites but not sure if there is a shampoo to help.

What do your piggies sleep in? Ours our sleeping in a hay nest but not sure if they would like a little house.

Stronghold is good but you need to get it from the vet.

Straw is not seen to be ideal as it can irritate their eyes. Make sure that you get quality hay to reduce the risk of parasites.

I don't shampoo mine, they are clean and just smell of freash hay. Mind, my pigs are short haired. A tiny amount of tea tree oil diluted in a piggie bath is safe.

Have you been on the Peter Gurney (i think that is how you spell his name?) web site. He is a guinea guru? He will have info. on washing them and suchlike. Have fun with this.

Better go, the little person is shouting for me.

You can get something to stop bugs on their skin, cannot remember what its called....... {runs upstairs to check piggie medical box}..........Xenex Ultra Spot On, for fleas, ticks and lice so good in the summer months.

TBH since becoming a real mummy I have been a rather crap piggie mummy but when I have time I do shampoo them. I have a bottle of Gorgeous Guineas, think you can Google it. But I also use Lush stuff on them .

Hay is best as they can eat and sleep in it. I don't like the vacuum packed stuff as its usually broken, stuff in a big back it nicest as they can make better nests.

And Peter Gurney is the best for any piggie stuff. And Cambridge Cavy Trust who do teeth trimming with out anaesthetic, they just towel wrap them firmly and the piggie doesn't know what's hit it! All over in seconds .

Xeno spot on is a newish product available from your vet that is better than the Xenex previously available. Stronghold is not licenced for G.pigs and should be avoided therefore.
